State Patrol investigating fatal crash in Rice County

(Rochester, MN) – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Rice County that happened Monday evening just before 5:30 p.m.

A state patrol crash report indicates a 72-year-old Northfield man and a 34-year-old Glencoe man were involved in the crash at the intersection of Highway 19 and County Rd 2 at Lonsdale.  Their names have not been released, nor have the nature of their injuries been disclosed.

The Northfield man was apparently eastbound on County Rd 2 in a 2012 Audi Q5, while the Glencoe man was westbound on Highway 19, driving a 2010 Kia Rio when the vehicles collided.

The patrol says the crash involved an unbelted occupant.
