Search efforts continue for Madelia boy believed drowned

(Mankato, MN) –  Search efforts will resume Monday morning for a boy believed to have drowned in the Blue Earth River.

Eleven-year-old Denis Funez of Madelia went missing at Rapidan County Park Saturday.  Funez was swimming in the river with other children when he was likely swept into deeper water by the river current.

The Blue Earth, Nicollet, Le Sueur, Brown, and Rice County Sherrif’s departments have been searching for the boy since Saturday evening.

The Minnesota DNR, Lake Crystal Fire Department, and Mankato Department of Public Safety are also assisting in the search.
