Mapleton man arrested for knife assaults
(Mankato, MN) – A Mapleton man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted multiple people with a knife and held his girlfriend captive.
Troy Blaine Almhjeld, 41, is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail on possible charges of 2nd-degree assault and related charges, according to a release from Captain Paul Barta with the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s office.
The release says the sheriff’s office was dispatched to assist Mapleton police with an assault on Sunday. Initial reports indicated that Almhjeld had cut a family member with a knife and was refusing to let his girlfriend leave the apartment.
Almhjeld confronted officers while holding two knives, according to the release, and a taser was used to de-escalate the situation and take him into custody.
Almhjeld, his girlfriend, the family member that was cut, and one deputy were treated for minor injuries.
