(Faribault, MN) – A teen was taken into custody in Faribault after allegedly twice making threats against school staff.

Police were called to Alexander Learning Academy just after 10 a.m. on Monday, according to a release from Captain Neil Pederson of the Faribault Police Department.

A 16-year-old student reportedly made threats against staff members then left the school, but returned a short time later.  The student again made threats and gestured as if he had a concealed weapon, according to the release.  The school went into lockdown.

The teen suspect was taken into custody without incident and no weapon was found.  The school and grounds were also searched for weapons, and nothing was found.

No injuries resulted from the incident and school resumed as normal.

The suspect was transported to the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center.  Charges are pending in Rice County.
