Disorderly conduct charge added against Minnesota lawmaker
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Prosecutors have added a disorderly conduct charge against a Minnesota lawmaker who allegedly scuffled with a guard at a hotel bar near the state Capitol before he was cited for trespassing for refusing to leave a nearby hospital.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Tuesday’s misdemeanor charge against Republican Rep. Matt Grossell, of Clearbrook, alleges he pushed the guard several times before pulling him to the ground Saturday.
Police say officers were sent to check on a disorderly intoxicated man in the bar. Paramedics took the retired Clearwater County deputy to Regions Hospital. Police say that when Grossell was deemed OK, he demanded shoes and refused to leave, so he was arrested.
Attorney Ryan Garry says Grossell is remorseful about his conduct and that it doesn’t reflect his true character.
