Child dead after gun discharged in Jackson County home

(Jackson, MN) – A child is dead after a weapon was discharged inside a Jackson County home.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office said in a release that deputies responded Wednesday to a report of an injured child at a home in Heron Lake, where a gun was discharged inside the residence, the bullet striking the child.
The child, whose age is not yet being released, was transported to the Windom Area Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released at a later date.
