Charges: Wells man blamed drunk driving crash on oral
(Blue Earth, MN) – A Wells man faces criminal DWI and assault charges after a driving complaint led to his arrest.
Joshua Alan Pourrier, 28, was charged last week in Faribault County Court with gross misdemeanor counts of second-degree DWI, obstructing the legal process, and fourth-degree assault of a police officer.
According to the complaint, sheriff’s deputies found Pourrier sitting in his car in a watery area of the ditch off 530th Avenue outside of Bricelyn after another driver reported his vehicle for erratic driving.
Police say Pourrier was sitting in the driver’s seat of the grey car with his pants halfway down, and grabbed a bottle of Bud Light and his car keys, then sprayed himself with cologne.
Pourrier exited the vehicle when asked, according to the complaint, but struggled to walk and fell down multiple times. Charges say he became combative when officers tried to assist him. Court documents say one of the officers suffered a small, bleeding laceration on her finger during the struggle.
Pourrier was transported to an emergency room for examination where had was “rude and combative, swearing and making sexual remarks to the nurses,” and required leg restraints according to the complaint.
Court documents say Pourrier refused to submit a blood sample. He told police he went into the ditch because he was “getting a blowjob.” Police say there were unable to locate anyone else at the crash scene.
The complaint says Pourrier has two previous convictions for DWI, one in 2017 and a second in May 2019.
